BHP BMA, a joint venture between BHP and Mitsubishi Alliance, sought to establish an Engineering Construction Panel to deliver civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation works across its major mining operations in Queensland.

The panel covers six key sites, including Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow, Caval Ridge, Peak Downs, Saraji, and Hay Point Coal Terminal. The BMA Engineering Construction Panel was designed to:

  • Establish a pre-qualified contractor panel for site-based engineering-led civil works.

  • Enable long-term contractor engagement through a framework agreement.

  • Provide a mechanism for improved relationships, visibility, and performance monitoring across BMA’s assets.

  • Enhance transparency and predictability in contractor workload, with an early view of upcoming work packages.

Although being awarded a place on the panel does not guarantee work, high-performing contractors will be prioritised for ongoing opportunities based on capability, safety, compliance, and value-for-money outcomes.
